CurrentBody Skin LED Red Light Hair Growth Helmet

Product image: CurrentBody product page.
The CurrentBody Skin LED Hair Growth Helmet is a hard-shell helmet with 120 red LEDs in the 620–660 nm range. CurrentBody says it's designed to support thicker-looking hair.
Sessions are 10 minutes and the helmet switches off by itself. It has a built-in timer and Bluetooth headphones, so you can listen to something while you wait. CurrentBody suggests daily use for at least 16 weeks. It comes in Medium and Large sizes. A 510(k) (K230336) exists for an earlier product name and model number (MZ-07), but we haven't confirmed the current helmet is that model, so we list it as "Brand says cleared".
It uses LEDs only, with fewer diodes than most laser caps we list, and its sessions are short. More diodes don't by itself mean better results. Hair loss has many causes, so see a dermatologist before you buy.

| FDA status | Brand says cleared CurrentBody's store says the helmet is FDA-cleared. A 510(k) exists for 'CurrentBody Skin LED Hair Regrowth (Model: MZ-07)' (K230336, decided 2023-04-05), but we haven't confirmed the current helmet is model MZ-07, so we haven't matched this product to that record. A later 'Dual Light' helmet (MZ-07A) has K251017. FDA record or source |
"Brand says cleared" means the brand or a retailer says it's FDA-cleared, but we haven't matched this exact product to a 510(k) record. FDA clearance is not FDA approval, and a listed specification isn't proof that a device works. How we check FDA status.
Terms on this page
- nm
- Nanometres, the unit for a light's wavelength (its colour). Red light is roughly 620–700 nm; near-infrared is above 700 nm.
- 510(k)
- The FDA premarket notification route. A cleared 510(k) means the FDA found the device substantially equivalent to one already on the market. It is not FDA approval.
- Diodes
- The individual light sources in a device: LEDs, which spread light, or laser diodes, which produce a narrower beam.
