LED body panels are larger red and near-infrared light panels for half- or full-body sessions. We compare panel height, wavelengths, claimed irradiance at the brand's stated distance, available third-party measurements, prices and FDA status, when available.
Irradiance is how much light reaches the skin, in milliwatts per square centimetre (mW/cm²). Brand figures and third-party figures often differ because they're taken with different instruments and at different distances. Higher power or a taller panel doesn't by itself mean better results.
Claimed and measured irradiance can differ because brands and testers use different instruments and distances. Many panel makers quote a handheld solar-meter reading at 6 inches. In the third-party measurements we currently use, spectrometer readings have often come in at roughly half the brand's figure, but that doesn't hold for every panel. Compare figures taken at the same distance.
Wear the eye protection supplied. Follow the manufacturer's distance and session-time guidance. Check with a clinician first if you take photosensitizing medication or have a medical condition. GlowSpec makes no claim that any panel treats a condition.
